English level requirements

• Competent English — IELTS 6 each band, or PTE 50 each.
• Proficient English — IELTS 7 each band, or PTE 65 each.
• Superior English — IELTS 8 each band, or PTE 79 each.

You can only claim points for employment in your nominated or closely related skilled occupation. Employment means engagement for remuneration of at least 20 hours per week.

Points can be claimed for employment in your nominated or closely related skilled occupation in Australia. Maximum combined work-experience points is 20.

For points-based migration you will receive points only for your highest qualification. Qualifications must be recognised at the time you are invited to apply.

You must have at least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification meeting the Australian Study Requirement — generally 2 academic years of study in Australia.

To be eligible: qualification must meet the Australian Study Requirement, be obtained while living and studying in a designated regional area, and not be by distance education.

The postgraduate degree by research (doctorate or masters) must be awarded by an Australian institution after at least 2 academic years of study in STEM or specified ICT fields.

To be credentialled in a community language and eligible for these points, you must have been accredited at the paraprofessional level or above by NAATI.

You must have completed a Professional Year in Accounting, ICT/Computing or Engineering, over a period of at least 12 months, in the four years before invitation.

Points can be claimed if your partner is also a skilled applicant, has competent English, or you are single / have an Australian partner.
